Following an incident with his old and malfunctioning presidential jet at JFK Airport in New York, Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly Abdulkarim Lawan has voiced worries for the safety of Kashim Shettima, the vice president of Nigeria.
Lawan asserts that the old and malfunctioning airplane, which was damaged during a stopover, poses a threat to Shettima’s life.
The damage forced Shettima to postpone his trip to Samoa for the Commonwealth Summit. While expressing sympathy for the vice president and his staff, Lawan underlined the urgency of taking immediate action. He expressed sympathy for the Nigerian government and demanded that U.S. authorities conduct a comprehensive inquiry.
Lawan emphasized the need for Shettima to get a new plane, saying that utilizing the outdated and malfunctioning presidential jet puts the vice president’s life and the lives of his officials and crew in danger.
