A task force has been formed by the Ogun State government to control the state’s rising transportation costs. To make sure that citizens are not unjustly burdened by excessive levies, the government is undertaking a state-wide monitoring effort.
The state’s Ministry of Transportation launched the exercise, which was named Task Force Control of Transport Fares of Motorists and Unethical Practices by Filling Stations. Dairo Olugbenga, the Transportation Commissioner, said the action was taken in response to public complaints on the growing expense of transportation.
The task force aims to lessen financial strains while encouraging equitable behavior between filling stations and transport unions. The task force is made up of stakeholders such as the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
Other key partners include the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, and the Ogun State Park and Management Committee. The monitoring team, led by Director of Public Transport and Committee Services, has visited major towns and transport hubs. The government is committed to ensuring everyone in the area has access to quick and reasonably priced transportation.
