Omoni Oboli explains how she lost a movie role due to her refusal to kiss a director

Omoni Oboli, a Nigerian actress and filmmaker, has disclosed that she turned down a movie part because she wouldn’t kiss the director.

In an interview with comedian AY on “Glasshouse show,” Oboli described the incident. She took a pause to raise her children overseas and then came back to Nigeria, where she was requested to kiss a director during an audition.

Oboli was unsure why the director would ask her to kiss him, and she refused. She asked the director if it was an audition, and Oboli said she couldn’t, leading to her not getting the role she had hoped for and she ended up returning without playing the role.

“One director asked me to kiss him at an audition, and I couldn’t understand why he would do that. So I was like ‘is this an audition?’ and he was like ‘yeah, I just want to see’ and I said ‘sorry, I can’t do it because I didn’t see any reason I would be kissing you the director when we are not on set.

“And so I said ‘oh no sorry, I can’t.’ Guess what? I didn’t get the role that I travelled for, and I ended up travelling back without playing the role,” she said.
