It is not ideal for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to leave office at the same time to travel abroad, according to former presidential spokesperson Laolu Akande.
Former presidential spokesperson Laolu Akande said that former Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are not the best people to leave government to travel abroad at the same time.
According to Akande, the two leaders’ relationship is still tense since they don’t have enough maintained trust or handholding. Shettima travelled to Sweden for two days to represent Nigeria in bilateral meetings with the Scandinavian country, while Tinubu left Nigeria on a two-week work leave in the UK.
According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, there is no governance vacuum because both leaders are actively involved in the country’s activities. During his eight years in government, Akande recounted, the president and vice president would check in with one another to make sure someone had returned.
Over the course of eight years, they were able to guarantee that there was always one person on the ground, with the vice president concluding international tours on behalf of the president when necessary.
