Asake, a Nigerian singer, has achieved a historic milestone by being the first African musician to reach the top of the global Spotify debut chart.
After his recently released third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” debuted at the top of the charts, he praised the achievement.
With guest appearances from Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, the 15-track album smashed the record for the most Spotify first-day streams for an African album.
On its debut day, the album received 9.42 million plays on the global Spotify Chart.
With 870,000 plays, one of the album’s outstanding tracks, “MMS,” starring Wizkid, shattered the record for the most first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria.
