A formal invitation to visit its headquarters has been extended to Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh by the Nigeria Police Force, which is conducting an investigation into serious charges involving cyberbullying, criminal defamation, forgery, and other connected actions. An official invitation letter from the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, which is in charge of the case, was used to announce this development.
The Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, A.A. Elleman, signed the August 5, 2024 letter. It explained in detail how Dikeh’s name had come up a lot during the inquiry. In the communication, it was expressly requested that she appear for an interview with SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on August 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The interview was conducted with Dikeh in order to give her an opportunity to address the accusations made against her and to provide further information.
The letter said as follows: “This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently. In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on 7th August 2024 at 10:00hrs to shed more light on the allegations. Your usual cooperation in this regard would be highly appreciated.”
Following her appearance at the police headquarters, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed that Dikeh had been invited in connection with a petition filed against her. He noted that she was interviewed and subsequently released, with the investigation still ongoing. Adejobi emphasized that Dikeh’s presence was required to address the petition’s concerns and that the process would continue as the authorities review the case.
