Toke Makinwa, a Nollywood actress and media figure, has condemned individuals who are exploiting the ongoing nationwide demonstration to ruin and vandalise fellow Nigerians’ property.
According to news reports, a cross-section of Nigerians marched out on Thursday to begin a statewide demonstration protesting the country’s extreme suffering.
According to accounts, some hoodlums took advantage of the nonviolent protest to plunder government and private property in several areas of the country.
Makinwa responded on her X Twitter Thursday evening, saying it was uncalled for.
She emphasised that the people whose properties were being plundered were going through the same difficulties.
She stated “Destroying properties and stealing from your fellow Nigerians who are passing through the same hardship is not right at all. This is very sad.”
She added, “I did not say the stealing and vandalism was done by protesters, the people who have their things stolen are Nigerians too, going through the same hardship. What have they done to deserve this?”
