The advocates of the planned nationwide protest against the Federal Government over the nation’s economic difficulties have been advised to put the demonstration on hold by Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin.
The request was made by the Benin Monarch in a statement that was provided to reporters on Wednesday in Benin City and was signed by Mr. Osaigbobo Iguobaro, his chief press secretary.
The monarch did, however, counsel resentful Nigerians to allow the federal government adequate time to carry out its economic program, which is anticipated to lessen the current suffering that Nigerians are going through.
Newsmen recall that some young people had suggested starting a 10-day nationwide hunger and hardship protest on August 1, 2024, in an effort to bring the country’s deteriorating circumstances to the attention of the federal and state governments.
He stated the Oba believed that hardships must endure for a while before things can improve.
Nonetheless, he urged the federal government to step up efforts to put its security and economic plans into action.
