Shelley Duvall, an American actress, passes away at 75

Dan Gilroy, her partner, told The Hollywood Reporter that she had passed away.

She passed away on Thursday night in her sleep from problems related to diabetes at her house in Dan Gilroy, Blanco, Texas.

“My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley,” Gilroy said, according to THR.

In 1970, Duvall made her film debut in the dark comedy “Brewster McCloud.” For her performance in the 1977 drama “3 Women,” she was awarded Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival.

Three years later, she portrayed Olive Oyl in Robert Altman’s musical adaptation of “Popeye,” starring opposite Robin Williams.

However, Duvall lost popularity in Hollywood and didn’t appear on screen for 20 years before returning in “The Forest Hills” in 2023.

Her roles in Annie Hall, The Shining, and Nashville made her most well-known.
