According to Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, the party’s leadership situation may be resolved by him, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and other pertinent parties.
In accordance with the LP constitution, Obi stated that Otti and the party’s National Executive Council, or NEC, will convene to resolve the party’s leadership problem.
Additionally, he said that stakeholders will have to make the choice about whether to keep Julius Abure as LP’s National Chairman.
After answering questions from the media, Obi addressed the Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Transition Committee, which is led by Abdulawaheed Omar, the NLC’s former president.
Peter Obi and other stakeholders were conducting a peace meeting at the Labour Party when the NLC Transition Committee arrived to take over the party administration.
He believes that the stakeholders can find a solution to the Labour Party’s leadership crisis.
He stated: “When we come together as a family, we will make decisions as a family. The party has a constitution and a National Executive Council, and everyone, including myself and Governor Otti, will be there to decide.
“We cannot say someone is at the gate and tell your wife to leave; everyone must be present before dissolving a marriage.
“The protest is good because it shows that everyone wants us to organize ourselves better. They are part of the family, and in a family, people agitate and misunderstandings are part of the living process.”
