Ed Sheeran: I composed ‘Shape Of You’ for Rihanna

Grammy-winning British musician Ed Sheeran has disclosed that the idea for his popular song “Shape Of You” came from Barbadian diva Rihanna.

In a recent interview with Hits Radio, he revealed this.

“Rihanna is genre-less, she can do anything. She’s the grail for songwriters. When I wrote Shape Of You, the person I was writing in my mind for was Rihanna,” Sheeran said.

“Shape Of You” is a lead single from Ed Sheeran’s third studio album, “Divide,” which was released on January 6, 2017.

At the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, the song took up the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy.

Additionally, Ed Sheeran disclosed that he penned Justin Bieber’s popular song, “Love Yourself.” He said that several musicians had originally rejected the tune.
