O Yeong-su, 79, a Squid Game celebrity, was found guilty of sexual harassment

O Yeong-su, 79, a Squid Game celebrity, was found guilty of sexual harassment after aggressively kissing and touching a theater coworker.

The actor from South Korea known as “Squid Game,” O Yeong-su, was accused of sexually assaulting a lady in 2017 and was later convicted guilty of the crime.

The actor, who made history in 2022 by being the first South Korean to win a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in a television series, was given an eight-month prison term with a two-year suspension, according to the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court.

Womenlink, a South Korean women’s rights organization, applauded the decision and asked O to extend her condolences to the victim.

The group wrote on X that the defendant “resembles other offenders of sexual violence in theatre who tried to cover up their sexual violence as ‘favour’ and ‘friendship’.”

He had to withdraw from an upcoming South Korean film due to the uproar surrounding the claims of sexual harassment.

O became the first South Korean to win the Best Supporting Actor in Television Golden Globe in 2022 for his performance in “Squid Game.”

He portrayed one of the primary adversaries of the first season, O II-nam, an old man.
