The Super Eagles captain Troost-Ekong was injured at the recently finished Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, and the Greek club PAOK is apparently requesting compensation from FIFA for this injury.
Despite suffering a hamstring injury during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the 30-year-old persevered and helped Nigeria win the silver medal.
Own Goal Nigeria claims that PAOK is requesting payment from FIFA in relation to Troost-Ekong’s injury sustained while representing Nigeria internationally at the AFCON.
For the duration of his absence, the Greek team is anticipated to seek €20,548 (£18,008) every day; FIFA caps player compensation at €7.5 million (£66.57 million) per player.
When players are absent from a club for more than 28 days due to international competition for their national teams, FIFA often reimburses the clubs.
The latest information was released not long after Troost-Ekong, the vice captain of the Super Eagles, recovered from an injury he sustained in the Ivory Coast during the 2023 AFCON.
