Brighton’s head of recruiting, Sam Jewell, has been placed on gardening leave after accepting an offer to join Chelsea.
The 34-year-old succeeds his predecessor, Paul Winstanley, who joined the Blues from Brighton 16 months earlier.
Brighton said: “Sam has now commenced a period of gardening leave. We thank him for his long service to our club.
“With immediate effect, Mike Cave, assistant technical director, supported by George Holmes, scouting and intelligence manager, will assume Sam’s responsibilities.”
Jewell, the son of previous manager Paul, joined Brighton as head of recruiting for the U21s in May 2016.
He started as an emerging talent scouting manager in 2018 and has been the head of recruiting for 14 months.
